Oil Pastel Still Life

The following artworks were created by students ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade.

These were created with oil pastels on black paper. Students learned skills in drawing from life as they created their drawings through observing bouquets of flowers on their table. Students were encouraged to experiment with color mixing through layering of the oil pastels.

Prior to drawing, students looked at floral still lives from various historical and contemporary artists and discussed both the formal and conceptual aspects of still life as an artistic genre.
