Lesson 4: Utopian Landscape

In the fourth and final lesson of this course, students painted over their underpaintings with color and detail. Students looked at a variety of contemporary and historical landscape paintings, observing how color (realistic or imaginative) can be used to create a mood or atmosphere in a landscape painting. Students also incorporated learning from the second lesson, where they explored mark-making techniques, in order to add texture and depth to their paintings. Below are the finished works of art and students working on their color stories and details.
